Are you constantly on autopilot allowing external events and time to make your choices? Are you allowing negative people and circumstances to rule your life, do you feel trapped and nothing seems to change? I’ve been there, working in the same soul destroying jobs and living the same story. It’s a trap and we allow ourselves to fall into it as we feel that it’s the only way. I followed the same habits for many years of my life, until one day circumstances forced me on a different path. Society has programmed every aspect of our lives and we are living someone else’s dream. If your inner voice is telling you to change direction and you are not listening to your calling, the universe might throw you off course for a while. The changes can be painful but necessary to make you realise that you have been on the wrong path and you need to pay attention! Know that you are loved and it is for your highest good, everything is aligning in your favour on the way to your true purpose. You will be shown another direction and you need to trust and believe in yourself. Do you keep hoping that one day things will change, do you long for something different in your life? If you keep doing the same things, you will keep getting the same results and one day, perhaps 20 years later, you will realise that you didn’t have to wait that long to design the life of your dreams. With a little more planning and developing new habits you will live a healthier and happier life.

I’m here to tell you that change is possible and you can achieve anything with a new mindset, nothing can stop you. Everyone is on a journey, we are here to learn ,but the sooner you start changing your life, the better. Some people are happy to stay in their comfort zone and that is absolutely fine too. You always have a choice, I have realised that I’m happier when I feel that I am growing and achieving my goals and dreams. Human beings have a desire to control everything, but I have found that when you let go of controlling every aspect of your life, that is when the magic happens. The only thing that we need to learn to control is our thoughts, we can choose to have positive thoughts or we can choose negative thoughts that can lead to sadness and frustration. My whole life changed when I upgraded my mindset, I started to become aware of my thoughts and the negative people and situations started to leave my life. Perhaps it’s time to say, “goodbye and good luck” to the negative people in your life, they were there to help you learn and grow but now you are moving into a different direction. Everything in your life is happening for a reason, there are no mistakes, these are the lessons you need to learn to move forward on your journey and live your truth. Forgive, send blessings to the people that have hurt you, then let go and never look back! Don’t worry, allow the universe to take care of everything, work on improving yourself, the best revenge is massive success! Changing your mindset can have a huge impact on your life, I have noticed that I meet mostly positive people these days and some of the situations that used to bother me, no longer affect my life as much as they used to. Be consistent with positive thoughts and you will start to notice the shift in your life.

These are some ways to upgrade your mindset and develop new habits to a healthier and happier YOU:
START A MORNING RITUAL
Starting your day with positive thoughts and gratitude sets the tone for the rest of your day. Keep a gratitude journal and spend a few minutes in the morning writing about things that you are grateful for each day. This will lift your mood and energy as it helps you to focus on all the positive things in your life and what IS going well instead of what is going wrong. Look at your goals and set positive affirmations for your goals and dreams and visualise that you have already achieved everything as this creates the positive energy to allow your goals to manifest into your reality.

MEDITATION
Meditation is a great tool to help connect to your heart and raise your vibration and positive energy. You can start to feel the benefits of the practice with just 10-15 minutes every day.
When you practice meditation, you can tap into your higher self and a feeling of unlimited possibilities. There is NO FEAR when you start feeling the connection with source as it will increase your positive energy, level of consciousness and help you navigate through any challenges you encounter during the day.
LOOK AFTER YOUR BODY
Learn about healthy meals AND what is good for your body, include lots of fruit and vegetables in your diet and drink as much water as you need. Find an exercise routine that you enjoy for 30 minutes every day, to maintain a balanced life. Get plenty of fresh air to increase the oxygen in your body and to help relieve stress.
Start a self-care practice, give yourself the gift of time and don’t ignore your body’s need for rest or wait until you are exhausted to replenish your energy. Do whatever makes you happy, there are no rules as it is what you feel your body needs. For example, you might decide to sit quietly and read a book for half an hour today and tomorrow you might have time for a long walk in nature.
STOP JUDGING YOURSELF
Be happy with where you are in your life right now. Accept your limitations and start making small changes in the areas of your life that you want to improve. Forget about the past, don’t waste your energy and time thinking of things that you wish you had done differently. Accept yourself in the present moment and forgive yourself so you can move forward to finding the true meaning on your journey. Be aware of negative thoughts and when these arise, realise that it is just thoughts and you have the power to change your focus at any moment to the positive in your life. Practice gratitude to shift your focus and love your body, appreciate and reward yourself for all the things you have achieved in your life. Look in the mirror and say the words, “I am worth it.”
CHALLENGE YOUR NEGATIVE SELF-TALK
It is so easy to say, “I can’t do this” when you find yourself thinking negatively about a situation, change your language to positive words. For example you can say something like, “I have never done this before, but I’m willing to make it work, I’m a winner.” These words sound more positive to empower yourself to succeed, believe in yourself and know that mistakes are just lessons as you evolve on your journey.
Be conscious of how powerful your thoughts are, your mind is like a garden and your thoughts are the seeds. Start planting good seeds and they will grow into beautiful flowers, control your negative thoughts so they don’t destroy your beautiful flowers. Changes won’t happen overnight as creating new habits that last can take up to 3 months, but with patience and persistence you will start to see small changes in your life and these will lead to bigger changes.

START POSITIVE AFFIRMATIONS
It was during my first spiritual awakening that I discovered the author Louise Hay, my world was in turmoil and her books inspired and motivated me to change my life. She was a pioneer in the personal development movement and emphasised the power of mindset. She believed that with affirmations, meditation and positive self-talk you can overcome any challenge in your life and reach your goals. At the time I didn’t understand everything in her books but over the years I started to understand her teachings as I started to connect the pieces of the puzzle in my own life.
I believe in affirmations as I have seen the miracles in my own life, but most people try them for a few days, weeks and when they are not seeing instant results they give up. Everything takes time to develop and you need to be consistent, patient and believe that everything is on the way to you at the right moment in your life. Every thought you think and speak is an affirmation and you need to retrain your subconscious mind into positive thoughts and habits. If you want to change your life, YOU need to change. If you continue repeating the same routines and habits, nothing will change. No one has any control over your feelings, you are the only person that has total control of your feelings, choose to feel good in this moment and the next moment will take care of itself.
There are many positive affirmations, but here are some of my favourite affirmations by Louise Hay that I have used and continue to use in my own life. I modified some of the sentences, but I hope you will find these helpful for your particular situation:

BE PATIENT WITH YOURSELF
Creating a routine and building your habits takes time, be patient with yourself. Start small and train your brain to enjoy your new habits. For example, if you have planned an early morning run, don’t stay up late the night before. Schedule your morning routine, choose the affirmations you want to repeat or write in your journal. Building a new habit can be hard, but it will get easier if you are consistent. Decide what you want to achieve in your life and start taking action. Nothing will change if your routine remains the same. Successful people have worked out a strategy and it seems most of them exercise, meditate and prioritise their health. Start with small steps to creating good habits to achieving your goals and dreams. Never stop learning, plant positive seeds of change with affirmations in your mind, continue to be persistent and elevate your life to a new level. The healthier and happier YOU always has a choice. You are worth it.
