Are you spending hours in front of the mirror every day getting ready and asking yourself, “Why do I need all this makeup, does it make ME happy?” Women can spend an astronomical amount of money on beauty products in their lifetime. For example according to the article in the International Journal of Women’s Dermatology around 85% of women worldwide use nail care products and visit the nail salon every month and can go into debt for these additional beauty expenses. I prefer to have my own manicure at home and save my money for things that I really need. However, I do treat myself to a manicure for special occasions and there is nothing wrong with having a manicure at the salon, but for the average woman it can be a struggle paying for these extra expenses every month! I often remind myself of my rule when I go shopping with this question: “Do I really need this, will I use it?”
If you are ready to declutter your makeup bag and look at new ways of looking and feeling beautiful naturally without spending a fortune then this blog post is for you!
Here are some ways to look and feel beautiful naturally every day:
Natural beauty starts from within
- Eat a healthy balanced diet: Include foods that are high in Omega-3 such as walnuts and lots of fruit and vegetables, broccoli, spinach. These foods are nourishing and you will have glowing and healthy skin.
- Drink enough water: Drinking as much water as you need is important for your health to flush out toxins from your body and keeps your skin hydrated and radiant. Water can also help reduce fine lines and puffiness and improve the skin’s elasticity. Aim to drink as much water as you need during the day, the daily recommended amount is to drink 8-10 glasses of water every day but everyone doesn’t have the same body and you might need a little more or a little less. Listen to your body and do what makes you feel comfortable.
- Drink green tea: Green tea has detoxifying properties to flush out toxins from your body. If you can drink at least 2 cups of green tea a day it will help maintain clear skin and reduce skin issues.
- Get enough sleep: If you are not getting enough sleep it can have a negative effect on your health in many ways, it can also cause dark circles under your eyes and make you look tired. Lack of sleep can cause a lot of stress in your life, try and get at least 7 hours of continuous sleep every night to feel beautiful. Make sure you get your beauty sleep!
- Maintain a positive attitude: You will radiate confidence when you smile and develop a positive attitude in yourself and with the people around you.
- Exercise regularly: Find an exercise that you enjoy and develop a habit of exercising regularly. Exercise can help reduce stress levels helping you feel good and improving blood circulation to your face making it look healthy and radiant.

Develop a natural skin care routine at home
- Cleanse, tone, Moisturise: If you don’t want to wear makeup and be able to show your naturally glowing skin, you need to cleanse, tone and moisturise your skin every day. It’s best to choose natural, organic products for your skin without the harsh chemicals as your skin is porous and can absorb whatever you put on it.
- Exfoliate: If you want to have soft smooth skin, exfoliate dead skin cells once a week. Take care with exfoliating as exfoliation can cause your skin to become irritated and dry. Choose a mild exfoliating product and monitor how your skin reacts. Follow your skin care routine and avoid using harsh exfoliating products that can irritate your skin.
- Facial massage: You should try to give yourself a facial massage as part of your skin care routine. A facial massage just a few minutes a day will help to rejuvenate your skin cells, help to reduce fine lines and tighten your facial muscles. I think a short daily facial massage can be more effective with a regular skin care routine.
NATURAL MAKEUP
Choosing natural makeup can be healthier for your skin as it doesn’t contain the toxic chemicals that can harm your health.

There are many good natural organic makeup products to choose and it’s not expensive to purchase a few good products that you can use regularly. Use makeup to enhance your external beauty and less is more! My favourite products are: concealer, foundation, blush, eyeliner and a lip gloss for every day makeup. If you don’t have much time for makeup in the mornings, use a powder foundation, blush, natural mascara for your eyes, concealer and lipgloss. This process takes approximately 5 minutes for those mornings when you really need to hit the snooze button on your alarm clock! Less is more and you will look and feel beautiful naturally and be on time to start your day.
NATURAL NAILS
You can do your own manicure at home instead of spending money at the nail salon. Keep your nails short and add a clear nail polish or french manicure. If you are wearing sandals in the summer, a pedicure is necessary, I prefer wearing nude nail polish as I find this works best. If you use darker nail polish, make sure to remove old nail polish at the first signs of chipping or fading. Having regular manicures and pedicures should form part of a natural grooming routine for your overall appearance.
HEALTHY HAIR
Keep your hair clean, shampoo and condition as often as required and get regular trims at the hair salon to remove split-ends to maintain the good health and condition for your hair. A haircut doesn’t have to be expensive, but make sure you choose a good hairdresser and check their reviews! I have had many disasters with my haircut as my hair is thick and difficult to manage. I think my hairstylist will agree that they need magic sisters for my type of hair! Be sure to read the reviews of your hairstylist and develop trust and communication with them so that you feel confident that you will get a good haircut. Choose a hairstyle that is easy to maintain and on the days when you don’t have much time for styling you can tie your hair up in a sleek ponytail.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I prefer to spend my money buying healthy food, natural skincare products and makeup. It might be a lot of money to spend on buying natural products initially but quality over quantity is cost effective; it will save you money in the long run. Choose healthy food for your overall health as looking and feeling beautiful naturally starts on the inside. Stay positive and smile and you will look and feel beautiful naturally to the world.
